EOP Audi Q8 e-tron & decision to close the plant

On 28 February 2025, production of the Audi Q8 e-tron in Brussels was definitively stopped. As no sustainable economic alternative business model or no investor was found for the takeover of the site and a large part of the workforce either, it was decided to also stop the industrial activity of Audi Brussels and close the plant.

Future of the site

The search for a buyer for the site is currently in progress.

  • Together with the different authorities, several concepts from interested parties will be analyzed in the coming months. Ultimately, a concept will then be selected so that a future is assured for the site.
  • This whole process from approaching interested parties to finally signing the contract will take several months.
  • Currently, around 200 of the approximately 3,000 employees are still active in the so-called transformation team at Audi Brussels. This team is preparing the final closure of the plant and will be phased out over the course of the year.

History

Since the 1940s, we have been a fixture in the Brussels streetscape. During those many decades, our factory has produced a long list of car models. The common thread? Simple: no matter what the challenge is, our team will switch and reinvent themselves again and again. With a strong sense of courage and desire to be pioneers. Time for a trip down memory lane!
